Anytime I use the word "Abercrombie" as in Abercrombie & Fitch, the clothing retailer, it's code for "whitebread." The following should tell you why.
I'm slow to the party, but apparently A&F has started a "diversity" campaign. (You have to wait for the flash to come up.) Some of their models have the "hmmm, what ethnicity could they be" look.
Background:
A racial discrimination lawsuit was filed in 2003 against A&F on behalf of 22 employees and applicants. The lawsuit was later granted class action status. A US District Court judge ordered A&F to pay $40 million to the claimants, and in April handed down a consent decree. A&F was required to create an Office of Diversity as part of the consent decree. Condensed details of consent decree here, full text of consent decree here in PDF. Another provision: "Abercrombie marketing materials will reflect diversity by including members of minority racial and ethnic groups."
